We’re upfront about how this site makes money. You should know.
What’s an affiliate link?
When we mention or recommend a product or service — a gold dealer, a Bitcoin exchange, a hardware wallet, a tax tool — the link we provide is sometimes an affiliate link. If you click it and end up making a purchase, we receive a small commission from the company. You pay exactly the same price either way. The commission comes out of the company’s marketing budget, not your pocket.
Why we do it
Running a site (hosting, tools, plugins, the time to write) costs money. Affiliate revenue is one of the ways we keep the lights on without putting a paywall in front of price data. The other ways: display ads (eventually), the Vault newsletter, embeddable widgets, and one day a paid premium tier.
What we promise
- We only recommend products we’d be willing to use ourselves, or that we have used.
- An affiliate relationship never improves a product’s review. If a partner ships a bad product, we’ll say so. (See our Editorial Policy for the firewall between sales and editorial.)
- We disclose affiliate relationships in any post that contains them, plus on dedicated review and comparison pages.
- If we change our mind about a partner, we’ll update or remove the recommendation.
Programs we participate in (or plan to)
This list will grow over time. As of May 2026, we are evaluating or participating in affiliate programs with:
- Gold dealers: APMEX, JM Bullion, Money Metals Exchange, BullionVault, GoldCore, Vaulted
- Bitcoin exchanges and brokers: Kraken, Coinbase, Swan Bitcoin, River Financial, Bitbuy and Newton (for Canadian readers)
- Hardware wallets: Trezor, Ledger, ColdCard
- Crypto tax and portfolio tools: Koinly, CoinTracker
- Precious metals IRAs (US readers): Augusta Precious Metals, Goldco, Birch Gold
We’ll add to or trim this list as relationships change. Specific affiliate links in articles will always disclose the relationship near the link.
